​Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban (PMAY-U) 2.0

On 9th August, 2024, the Union Cabinet approved Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban (PMAY-U) 2.0, aiming to provide financial assistance to one crore urban poor and middle-class families for housing.

  • The scheme offers financial assistance for constructing, purchasing, or renting affordable homes to urban poor and middle-class families.
  • Under PMAY-U, 1.18 crore houses have been sanctioned, with over 85.5 lakh houses completed and delivered.

Financial Details

  • Subsidy: Rs 2.30 lakh crore in government subsidies for the next five years.
  • Total Investment: Rs 10 lakh crore.
  • Credit Risk Guarantee Fund: Increased from Rs 1,000 crore to Rs 3,000 crore to support affordable housing loans.
