Majorana 1 Quantum Chip
On 19th February 2025, Microsoft introduced its new Majorana 1 chip, claiming it brings quantum computing "years, not decades" closer, joining Google and IBM in predicting a technological breakthrough sooner than expected.
- Quantum computing has the potential to solve complex problems in medicine, chemistry, and aerospace that would take classical computers millions of years to compute.
- The biggest challenge in quantum computing is qubit instability, as qubits are highly error-prone and difficult to control.
- Microsoft's Majorana 1 chip is designed to be more fault-tolerant than rival quantum computing designs, reducing computational errors.
- The chip is based on the properties ....
