WHO Lists First Ebola BDBV Diagnostic Test
On 2nd July 2026, the World Health Organization (WHO) added the first molecular diagnostic test for Bundibugyo virus (BDBV) to its Emergency Use Listing (EUL).
- The test enables rapid and accurate diagnosis, supporting early case detection, timely treatment, disease surveillance and outbreak response.
- The listing follows the largest recorded Bundibugyo Ebola outbreak, with over 1,400 confirmed cases and 438 deaths in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
