About Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati
- He was born as Mool Shankar Tiwari on 12th February 1824 in Tankara, Gujarat, into an orthodox Brahmin family.
- He later became a disciple of Swami Virjanand in Mathura.
Philosophy
- Dayanand Saraswati opposed idol worship, untouchability, caste-based discrimination, polygamy, child marriage, and gender inequality.
Social Reforms
- Women’s Empowerment: He strongly advocated women’s education, widow remarriage, the upliftment of marginalised communities, and the abolition of social evils such as Sati and child marriage.
