NHAI to Develop ‘Bee Corridors’ along National Highways
On 17th February 2026, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) announced a first-of-its-kind initiative to develop pollinator or “Bee Corridors” along national highways.
- NHAI will develop dedicated “Bee Corridors” along highways to support honeybees and other pollinators critical for agriculture and ecological balance.
What are Bee Corridors?
- Continuous stretches of bee-friendly plants along highways.
- Focus on nectar and pollen-rich native species.
- Designed to ensure year-round flowering and food supply.
- Include natural elements like dead wood and hollow trunks.
- The initiative aims to reduce ecological stress on pollinators.
