Private Member's Bill

Recently, a private member's Bill was introduced in the Rajya Sabha to amend the Constitution in order to bring diversity in judicial appointments and set up regional benches of the Supreme Court.

  • A Private Member's Bill is a Bill introduced in Parliament by any Member of Parliament (MP) who is not a Minister (elected/nominated).
  • It aims to draw attention to specific issues, suggest reforms, or highlight matters that may not be part of the government’s immediate agenda.
