Energy Transition Index 2026

On 18th June, 2026, the World Economic Forum (WEF) with Accenture released the Energy Transition Index 2026.

  • The Index evaluates national energy systems across three dimensions: energy security, sustainability, and equity, alongside the enabling conditions needed to support long-term transition, including policy frameworks, infrastructure, investment and innovation.

Global Trends

  • Nordic countries continued to dominate the rankings, with Sweden securing the 1st position, followed by Finland and Denmark.
  • Despite record global energy investments of USD 3.3 trillion, the pace of energy transition slowed due to geopolitical uncertainties, infrastructure constraints, and rising energy demand.
