Answer: From Ancient to Medieval period various foreign envoys have visited India. They provide useful information about social, economic and administrative condition of that time.
- Megasthenes: He was the ambassador of Seleucus Nicator, visited the court of Chandragupta Maurya. He wrote a book "Indica", in which he gave vivid account of the reign of Chandragupta Maurya.
- Fa-Hien (405-411 AD): He visited the court of Chandragupta Vikramaditya. He visited the holy place of Buddhism to collect Buddhist book and relics. He described what he saw in his book ' Foguoji'.
