Answer: Public servants are employees of government who work for welfare of people. They are responsible to the elected government, not to political party. They develop and deliver public programmes and policies for social and economic development of state.
Public servants are bridges between government and people as they regularly adopt and evolve policies according to people’s needs.
Public servants are expected to perform certain functions like:
- Delivering of public services;
- Providing service before self-interest;
- Creating awareness and providing information among masses; and
- Building and enhancing state credibility, infrastructure, and people’s trust.
