Rationale
- As per World Meteorological Organisations’ (WMO) estimate, India lost $87 billion, in 2020, from extreme weather events such as tropical cyclones, floods, and droughts.
- Further, India, in the fight against climate change has committed itself to achieve net-zero emissions by 2070.
- To meet this target, India will require investments worth over $10 Trillion and a significant portion of this investment needs to be financed through global capital.
