Kittur Rani Channamma
On 23rd October, 2024, the Department of Posts released a commemorative postage stamp at the historic Kittur Rani Channamma Stage, Kittur Fort Premises celebrating the 200th anniversary of Kittur Vijayotsava.
- This grand event commemorated Rani Channamma’s glorious victory on 23rd October, 1824 against the British rule.
Early Life of Rani Channamma
- She was born in 1778 at Kakati village in present day Karnataka.
- She married Raja Mallasarja of Kittur, who ruled the province until 1816.
- After Mallasarja’s death in 1816, his eldest son, Shivalingarudra Sarja, ascended the throne, but he died soon.
- After this, she adopted a child, Shivalingappa, and made him heir ....
