Restoration of Buddhist Heritage Sites in Lalitpur

On July 28, 2026, India and Nepal jointly inaugurated the restored historic 'Shri Gusthal Mahavihar' and the 'Agam' of Prathamshri Mahavihar in Guita Tole, Lalitpur (Patan), which were damaged in the 2015 earthquake.

  • This cultural restoration project was completed with a grant of approximately 12 crore Nepali Rupees (NPR) from the Government of India.
  • 'Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage' (INTACH) provided the project design and conservation consultancy.
