Kolam Tribe

In October 2025, in a move aimed at restoring livelihoods of Kolam tribal people, the Green India Challenge (GIC), a nationwide environmental movement, launched a pilot bamboo plantation project in Mullagutta village in Adilabad district (Telangana).

Objective

  • To combat environmental degradation while empowering Kolam tribes.
  • To address the acute bamboo shortage faced by the Kolam tribes due to restricted access to natural bamboo resources in the forests.
