12 Years of Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana(PMJDY)
On 28th August 2026, PMJDY completed 12 years, marking a significant milestone in transforming the country’s financial inclusion landscape.
- Launched in 2014, it aims to provide access to bank accounts, credit, insurance, pension and remittance facilities.
- As on 19th August 2026, the total number of PMJDY accounts stands at 59.09 crore; 55.7% (32.92 crore) of Jan Dhan account holders are women, and 77.8% (45.95 crore) of Jan Dhan accounts are in rural and semi-urban areas.
- Total deposit balances under PMJDY accounts stand at Rs.3,16,514 crore. Deposits have increased about 12.8 times, while the number of accounts has increased 2.3 times ....
