Background
- Historically, post-harvest management was the "neglected middle" of Indian agriculture.
- The Government had constituted an Inter-ministerial Committee in April, 2016 to examine issues relating to ‘Doubling Farmers’ Income’ (DFI) under the leadership of Ashok Dalwai.
- oThe Committee emphasized that doubling farmers' income is impossible without reducing post-harvest losses.
