Cybersecurity Architecture

India’s cybersecurity architecture is a multi-layered framework designed to protect the "Fifth Domain" of warfare (Cyberspace). It is anchored by CERT-In and NCIIPC, operating under the strategic umbrella of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) guidelines which classify cyber-attacks as man-made disasters requiring a "Zero Trust" response mechanism.

Key Stakeholders

  • Critical Information Infrastructure (CII): Power Grids, Banking Systems, and Transport Networks (protected by NCIIPC).
  • Corporate Entities: Mandated to report incidents within 6 hours.
  • Digital Citizens: Users of digital payments protected by Cyber Swachhta Kendra.
  • Government Data Centres: Beneficiaries of the Cyber Crisis Management Plan (CCMP).
