Gender Budgeting is a public finance tool that integrates gender perspectives into budgeting processes to ensure equitable allocation of resources, promote women-centric development, and mainstream gender equality across all sectors of India’s development planning.
Recent Trends
- India's Union Budget 2025-26 significantly increased funding for women and girls, allocating ₹4.49 lakh crore (approximately 8.86% of the total budget) to gender-responsive schemes, a substantial 37.25% jump from the previous year (₹3.27 lakh crore in FY 2024-25), marking the highest ever allocation and participation by ministries to foster gender equity and economic empowerment.
