India and the Sustainable Development Goals
The United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) provide a universal framework, adopted by India to integrate economic growth, social inclusion, and environmental sustainability into national development planning and governance.
National Progress on SDGs
- India has, for the first time, secured a position among the top 100 countries in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Index, ranking 99th out of 167 nations in the 2025 edition of the Sustainable Development Report (SDR).
- Multidimensional poverty has been reduced from 24.8% in 2015 to 14.96% by 2023-24, with the largest improvements seen in access to basic services.
- Access to electricity has reached over 99% ....
