Port Modernisation & Port-Linked Development
India’s maritime strategy has shifted from mere "Port Development" to "Port-led Development" under the Sagarmala programme. The focus is to reduce logistics costs for domestic and export-import (EXIM) cargo by modernizing port infrastructure, shifting to the "Landlord Port Model" (where the authority owns land but private players operate terminals), and developing port-proximate industrial clusters.
