Increase in MPs with Criminal Cases: In 2019, there was an increase of 109% in the number of MPs with declared serious criminal cases since 2009.
MPs with Criminal Cases: In 2022, of the 226 sitting Rajya Sabha MPs, 71 i.e., 31% have declared criminal cases against themselves and 37 i.e., 16% have declared serious criminal cases.
Chances of Winning: As per ADR analysis, the candidates facing criminal charges had double the chances of winning as compared to those with clean record.
