The increasing militarization and weaponization of space have introduced new threats and strategic considerations for national and international security.

Anti-Satellite (ASAT) Weapons

  • ASAT weapons, designed to disable or destroy satellites, pose significant risks to space assets and operations.
  • India's Mission Shakti (2019): India conducted a successful ASAT test, destroying a live satellite in low Earth orbit (LEO). This demonstrated India's capability to neutralize space-based threats, but also raised concerns about space debris and the weaponization of space.
