National Action Plan for Mechanized Sanitation Ecosystem (NAMASTE)
- A special event focused on the National Action Plan for Mechanized Sanitation Ecosystem (NAMASTE) scheme, was organized through the Union Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment on May 25, 2025, in Chhatarpur (Madhya Pradesh).
- NAMASTE scheme launched in July 2023, aims to formalize and rehabilitate the persons engaged in hazardous cleaning of sewer and septic tanks.
- The intended outcome of NAMASTE scheme is to achieve zero fatalities in sanitation work.
- The components include profiling of Sewer and Septic Tank Workers (SSWs); Health Insurance coverage under AB- PMJAY; Occupational safety training of SSWs; upfront Capital Subsidy for procurement of Sanitation related Vehicles/ Equipments; PPE ....
