Sample Registration System Statistical Report 2021
As per the Sample Registration System (SRS) Report 2021 released by the Registrar General of India (RGI), on 7th May, 2025, India has continued to witness a significant improvement in key maternal and child health indicators.
- The SRS is a large-scale demographic survey in India used to collect data on births and deaths, providing annual estimates of vital rates like birth rate, death rate, and infant mortality rate.
Major Findings
- Crude Birth Rate (CBR) at national level is 19.3, down from 19.5 in 2020. Kerala (12.9) has the lowest, Bihar (25.6) the highest.
