India and Netherlands Upgrade Ties to Strategic Partnership

On 16-17 May 2026, India and Netherlands elevated bilateral relations to a Strategic Partnership during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to The Hague.

  • Both sides signed 17 agreements and MoUs covering water management, agriculture, health, semiconductors, renewable energy, critical minerals, and mobility cooperation.

Key Areas of Cooperation

  • Annual high-level political dialogue and Foreign Ministers’ meetings.
  • Expansion of trade and investment in renewable energy, semiconductors, maritime sector, infrastructure & pharmaceuticals.
  • Cooperation in Critical Raw Materials (CRM) for resilient supply chains.

  • Renewal of Strategic Partnership on Water.
  • Collaboration in:
    • Flood resilience
    • Ganga Basin management
    • Climate-resilient agriculture
    • Digital health
    • One Health approach
