India-EU Launch Joint Initiative on EV Battery Recycling
On 5th May 2026, India and the European Union launched a joint initiative worth €15.2 million (~Rs.169 crore) to strengthen Electric Vehicle (EV) battery recycling under the India-EU Trade and Technology Council (TTC) Working Group-2 on Green and Clean Energy Technologies.

- EU’s Horizon Europe Programme.
- Ministry of Heavy Industries (MHI), Government of India.

- Strengthen EV battery recycling ecosystem.
- Secure critical raw materials needed for clean energy technologies.
- Accelerate transition toward a circular economy.
- Deepen India-EU technological cooperation.
