India-EU Launch Joint Initiative on EV Battery Recycling

On 5th May 2026, India and the European Union launched a joint initiative worth €15.2 million (~Rs.169 crore) to strengthen Electric Vehicle (EV) battery recycling under the India-EU Trade and Technology Council (TTC) Working Group-2 on Green and Clean Energy Technologies.

    • EU’s Horizon Europe Programme.
    • Ministry of Heavy Industries (MHI), Government of India.
