Soumya Swaminathan

  • The former WHO Chief Scientist and current Chairperson of the M.S. Swaminathan Research Foundation, has been elected as a Fellow of the Royal Society (FRS). Her father, M. S. Swaminathan (the architect of India's Green Revolution) was also elected to FRS in 1973.
  • She is also only the second Indian woman (after Gagandeep Kang) to receive the honor.
