- Overview of the Coal Sector: India is the 3rd largest producer of coal. Coal production in the country stood at 688.8 million tonnes in FY18. It stood at 576.00 million tonnes between Apr 2018 -Mar 2019.
- PRAKASH Portal: The government has launched a portal for better coordination among the ministries of power, coal and Indian Railways for coal supply to power plants. The Prakash portal – ‘Power Rail Koyla Availability through Supply Harmony’ – will enable all stakeholders to monitor coal right from mines to transportation.
