On 22nd January 2026, the Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana (SSY) completed 11 years of its operation.
Empowering Daughters: The Vision Behind Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana
- Launched on 22 January 2015 under the Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao campaign, SSY is a government-backed small savings scheme for the girl child.
- Deposits earn interest at rates notified periodically; the current interest rate is 8.2%.
- As of December 2025, over 4.53 crore accounts have been opened nationwide.
