Objectives

  • To enhance the edible oilseeds production and oils availability in the country by harnessing Oil Palm area expansion, increasing current palm oil production.
  • To reduce import burden on edible oils.
  • Target Groups: Oilseeds cultivators

Key Features/Guidelines

  • It is a Centrally Sponsored Scheme.
  • It is proposed to have an additional 6.5 lakh hectares for palm oil by 2025-26.
  • NMEO-OP will subsume the current National Food Security Mission-Oil palm programme.
