Revolutionary Movements in India
The revolutionary movement emerged in the early 20th century as a radical response to British colonial rule, driven by militant nationalism. It can be divided into two phases: the early phase before World War I and the later phase after it.
Early revolutionaries, inspired by examples like Italian unification and Irish nationalism, resorted to violence and acts of heroism to challenge British domination. By the 1920s, frustration with the Non-Cooperation Movement's withdrawal and Gandhian non-violence led to a surge in revolutionaries influenced by socialist and Marxist ideas. This later phase saw revolutionary ideas merge with broader nationalist goals.
