Chins
Over 4,000 refugees from Myanmar’s Chin State entered Mizoram’s Champhai district in July 2025 after violent clashes between Chin rebel groups.
- The Chins are an ethnic minority primarily from Myanmar’s Chin State, culturally and linguistically aligned with the Mizo people of India.
- They predominantly live in the western part of Myanmar, stretching from the Singu Plateau to the Arakan Mountains, encompassing Chin and Rakhine States, Bago, Magwe, and Sagaing Region.
- The Chin peoples are divided into six main tribes, namely the Asho, Cho (Sho), Khumi (M'ro), Laimi, Mizo (Lushai), and Zomi, which can be further distinguished by at least 60 ....
