Quipu
- Astronomers have identified a colossal cosmic structure, Quipu, stretching 1.3 billion light-years across, making it one of the largest known formations in the universe.
- Named after an ancient Incan measuring system, Quipu is over 13,000 times the size of the Milky Way and was discovered while analyzing galaxy cluster data.
- The structure is clearly visible in sky maps and challenges the current understanding of the universe’s large-scale structure.
- Along with Quipu, researchers have identified four other superstructures, collectively containing 45% of galaxy clusters, 30% of galaxies, and 25% of observable matter.
