India Opens New Frontiers in Himalayan Climate Research

  • On 8th April 2025, Earth Sciences and Minister of State for PMO, inaugurated India's first-ever "Himalayan High Altitude Atmospheric and Climate Research Centre" at Nathatop, Jammu & Kashmir.
  • The centre marks a major milestone in India's leadership in climate science, with J&K spearheading the nation’s global climate research initiatives in the Himalayas.
  • The Minister also flagged off the Indo-Swiss project "ICE-CRUNCH" in collaboration with ETH Zürich, focusing on ice nucleating particles and cloud condensation nuclei in the north-western Himalayas.
