SAARC Visa Exemption Scheme
- The Indian government has announced that Pakistan nationals will not be permitted to travel to India under the SAARC Visa Exemption Scheme (SVES) after terrorist attack in Pahalgam (J&K).
- SVES was launched in 1992.
- The scheme originated from the Fourth SAARC Summit held in Islamabad in December 1988.
- It aims to promote people-to-people contact and enhance regional cooperation among SAARC members.
- Currently, the list included 24 categories of entitled persons, which include Dignitaries, Judges of higher courts, ....
