TRAI Amends TCCCPR 2018
On 12th February 2025, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) amended the Telecom Commercial Communications Customer Preference Regulations (TCCCPR), 2018 to curb Unsolicited Commercial Communication (UCC).
- These changes aim to protect consumers from evolving spam tactics, simplify complaint mechanisms, and ensure legitimate commercial communication remains transparent.
Key Amendments
- Simplified Complaints: Consumers can now report spam calls and messages without prior registration. Complaints with basic details will be considered valid, and telecom operators must provide easy reporting options via apps.
- Faster Action against Spammers: Telecom operators must now act within 5 days instead of 30, and action against spammers will be triggered ....
