India’s First Guidelines on Disaster Victim Identification (DVI)

Recently, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) issued India’s first national guidelines for Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) to ensure proper identification and dignified return of human remains to families during mass fatality incidents.

Disaster Victim Identification is a scientific and systematic process used to identify victims of disasters such as plane crashes, earthquakes, floods, fires, and industrial accidents.
