PAC Highlights Implementation Gaps in SANKALP Scheme
In February 2026, the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of Parliament criticised the Government over the poorly planned and slow implementation of the SANKALP Scheme, citing findings from a report of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG).
Observations of the PAC
Lackadaisical Implementation
- • PAC termed the implementation of the SANKALP scheme as “lackadaisical” while examining the report of the CAG.
- • It expressed concern over serious administrative and monitoring gaps that affected the scheme’s performance.
Absence of Central Monitoring Mechanism
- • The Committee questioned the absence of a strong central monitoring framework to track progress across States.
