Global Peace Index (GPI) 2025
The 19th edition of the Global Peace Index (GPI) was released in June 2025.
- The Global Peace Index is published annually by the Institute for Economics and Peace (IEP) since 2007.
- GPI evaluates 163 countries covering 99.7% of the world population using 23 indicators across societal safety, conflict, and militarisation.
Key Highlights
- Global peacefulness declined by 0.36% in 2025, with 87 countries deteriorating and only 74 showing improvement.
- An estimated 152,000 conflict-related deaths occurred in 2024, highlighting the global cost of violence.
