MoHUA Advisory on Repurposing of Smart City SPVs
On 10th June 2025, in a strategic move to sustain India’s urban transformation momentum, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) issued a policy advisory encouraging the continued functioning and repurposing of Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs) created under the Smart Cities Mission (SCM).
Key Points of the Advisory
Completion of Current Mission Responsibilities
- MoHUA has urged all SPVs to prioritize the completion of any remaining tasks under the Smart Cities Mission.
- They are also asked to prepare comprehensive operation and maintenance (O&M) plans for the assets created under the mission, ensuring their long-term sustainability.
