The National Co-operative Development Corporation Amendment Bill 2026

On 12th August 2026, the Parliament passed the National Co-operative Development Corporation (Amendment) Bill, 2026.

  • It seeks to amend the National Co-operative Development Corporation Act, 1962 to expand the mandate and financial capabilities of the National Co-operative Development Corporation (NCDC).

Key Provisions

  • Broader Mandate: NCDC will be empowered to arrange, promote and finance co-operative development activities directly or through intermediary entities, beyond registered co-operative societies.
  • Direct Financial Assistance: It may provide loans and grants directly to co-operative societies and other eligible organisations, subject to prescribed security conditions.
  • Investment in Co-operatives: With Central Government approval, NCDC can acquire an interest in the share capital ....
