Revised Guidelines for Waste-to-Energy Projects
On 28th June 2025, the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) released revised guidelines for the Waste-to-Energy (WtE) Programme under the National Bioenergy Programme.
- These updates aim to create a more efficient, transparent, and performance-driven ecosystem for deploying bio-waste to energy solutions across India.
Major Highlights of the Revisions
Streamlined Processes
- The new framework reduces paperwork and simplifies approval mechanisms to boost production of Compressed Biogas (CBG), Biogas, and Power, particularly supporting small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
Flexible Central Financial Assistance (CFA) Disbursement
- Earlier, CFA was released only after the project achieved 80% generation.
