Introduction / Concept

Government policies and interventions are tools through which the state achieves socio-economic development, equality, and welfare goals. These include laws, schemes, programs, regulations, and institutional frameworks designed to address market failures, social inequalities, and developmental gaps.

Background / Current Context

Post-independence, Five-Year Plans were managed via the Planning Commission; NITI Aayog was established in 2015. Currently, emphasis is on inclusive growth with the mantra: "Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas" (Together with all, Development for all, Trust of all, Effort of all).
