New Guidelines to Prevent Greenwashing
On 15th October 2024, the Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) announced new Guidelines for Prevention and Regulation of Greenwashing or Misleading Environment Claims, aiming to curb false environmental claims made by companies.

- Definitions: The guidelines clearly define key terms such as "environmental claims" and "greenwashing," establishing a shared understanding among businesses and consumers.
- Transparency Requirements: Companies must substantiate environmental claims with reliable scientific evidence and detailed information regarding the methodologies used.
- Prohibition of Misleading Terms: Vague terms such as “eco-friendly,” “green,” and “sustainable” are prohibited unless properly substantiated.
