The Boilers Bill, 2024
On 4th December 2024, the Rajya Sabha passed the Boilers Bill, replacing the Boilers Act of 1923.
- It aims to enhance industrial safety and streamline boiler regulations across India.
Salient Features
- Uniform Boiler Standards: The Bill mandates uniformity in boiler construction, pressure specifications, registration, and periodic safety inspections.
- Certification of Design: Boiler manufacturers must get the design of boilers and their components certified.
- Inspection and Certification: The manufacturing and erection of boilers will be subject to inspection and certification.
- Registration: Boilers must be registered before starting operations, and this registration must be renewed for continued operation.
