Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation 2.0
AMRUT 2.0 represents the transition of Indian cities towards water security and a circular economy of water. Moving beyond the infrastructure-heavy approach of AMRUT 1.0, this phase (2021-2026) targets universal coverage of water supply in all 4,800+ statutory towns and 100% sewerage/septage management in 500 AMRUT cities, while enforcing mandatory rejuvenation of water bodies and aquifers.
Key Stakeholders/Beneficiaries
- Urban Households: Beneficiaries of functional tap connections.
- Women: Direct reduction in drudgery associated with fetching water in peri-urban areas.
- Urban Local Bodies (ULBs): Entities incentivized to reduce Non-Revenue Water (NRW) below 20% and trade treated wastewater.
- Startups: Participants in the "Technology Sub-Mission" developing indigenous water ....
