Mandatory Blending of Compressed Biogas (CBG)
On 24th November, 2023, the Centre unveiled a phased roadmap for mandatory blending of compressed biogas (CBG) in the city gas distribution (CGD) sector.
- It aims to boost manufacturing and consumption of CBG, a decision seen as crucial for the sector's growth.
- The National Biofuels Coordination Committee (NBCC) approves the mandatory blending of CBG with compressed natural gas (CNG) for transportation and piped natural gas (PNG) for households.
- Implementation will start in 2025-26 (FY26), according to the Petroleum Ministry.
