Global Wage Report 2024-25
On 28th November, 2024, the International Labour Organization (ILO) released its Global Wage Report 2024-25, revealing a promising reduction in global wage inequality over the past two decades.
Major Findings
- Insufficient Increase in Real Wages: A 2.7% growth in 2024 marks the largest increase in 15 years, but the recovery remains regionally uneven. Africa, Northern America and parts of Europe recorded stagnant or negative real wage growth.
- Persistent Inequality: Low-income countries suffer from significantly higher wage inequality compared to high-income nations, with nearly 22% of workers earning less than half the median hourly wage.
