The Sustainable Development Goals Report 2026

On 7th July 2026, the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs released The Sustainable Development Goals Report 2026.

Key Findings

Progress Achieved Since 2015

  • Nearly 1 billion people gained access to safely managed drinking water,
  • 1.2 billion to sanitation,
  • electricity access reached 92% of the global population,
  • internet penetration increased from 40% to 74%, and
  • social protection now covers over half the world's population.

Persistent Gaps

  • About 49% of SDG targets are progressing too slowly, while 15% have regressed below 2015 levels.
  • Around 10% of the global population still lives in extreme poverty, 2.3 billion people face food insecurity, ....
