‘Drishti’: World's First OptoSAR EO Satellite
On 3rd May 2026, Indian space-tech startup GalaxEye launched its Earth Observation Satellite “Drishti” aboard SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket from California.
- The satellite is a first-of-its-kind system combining multispectral optical imaging and Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) on the same platform.
What is an Earth Observation Satellite?
- EOS Satellites are designed to monitor and collect information about Earth’s surface and atmosphere.
- They are used for weather forecasting, agriculture, disaster management, infrastructure monitoring & defence surveillance.
What is special about Drishti?
