India’s First Barrier-Less Toll System Launched
- On 1st May 2026, India’s first Multi-Lane Free Flow (MLFF) barrier-less toll system was operationalised on the Surat–Bharuch stretch of NH-48 in Gujarat.
- The system removes toll plazas and physical barriers, allowing vehicles to move at highway speeds without stopping for toll collection.
- The technology uses Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras along with FASTag integration for seamless and automatic toll deduction.
